Create a customized ISO

  • Install Windows 2008 and install WAIK (Windows Automated Installation Kit) on a virtual machine.
  • Click Start > All Programs > Microsoft Windows AIK > Windows PE Tools Command Prompt to open the Windows PE Tools command prompt.
  • Run this command to create a Windows PE build environment in the WinPE folder.
  • For 32bit Versions – copype x86 C:\winpe-x86 For 64bit Versions – copype amd64 C:\winpe-amd64
  • From the Windows PE command prompt (c:\winpe-x86), run this command to mount winpe.wim to the mount folder:
  • cd C:\Win10PE\ISO\TI\WIM\sources md mount imagex /mountrw boot.wim 1 mount
  • Install VMware Tools on Windows 2008 and copy the entire contents
  • of the C:\Program Files\VMWare\VMWare Tools\Drivers\vmxnet, pvscsi and vmxnet3 folders to the C:\Drivers folders on the virtual machine.
  • Run this command at the Windows PE Tools command prompt to copy the vmxnet, vmxnet3 (enhanced), and pvsci drivers:
  • winpe.wim: dism /image:c:\winpe-x86\mount /Add-Driver /driver:c:\Drivers /recurse
  • Run this command to save the changes to winpe.wim:
  • imagex /unmount C:\Win10PE\ISO\TI\WIM\sources\mount /commit
  • Run this command to overwrite the boot.wim with the customized winpe.wim on the ISO:
  • xcopy c:\winpe-x86\winpe.wim c:\winpe-x86\iso\sources\boot.wim /y
  • Run this command to create the custom ISO image:
  • oscdimg -n -h -bc:\winpe-x86\ c:\winpe-x86\iso c:\winpe-x86\winpe-x86.iso

    WINPESE TIP: Copying the Windows 10 DVD's contents to a folder on your hard drive is highly recommended. It is highly advised to use the "Extract Wim folders" in Utils folder for a faster and more reliable building.
